WSET in Wines

Level 1 Award in Wines

Who it’s for: Beginners and hospitality teams starting their wine journey.
You’ll learn: fundamentals of wine styles, service, storage, food & wine pairing, and the WSET SAT at Foundation level.
Assessment: 45-minute multiple-choice exam.
Typical duration: 1 day (classroom) or 3–4 short online sessions.

Level 2 Award in Wines

Who it’s for: Enthusiasts and professionals who want structured knowledge of the most important grapes and regions.
You’ll learn: key grape varieties, classic regions and styles, winemaking basics, quality factors, and the WSET SAT at Intermediate level.
Assessment: 60-minute multiple-choice exam.
Typical duration: 3 days (classroom intensive) or 6–8 online sessions.

Level 3 Award in Wines

Who it’s for: Trade professionals and serious wine students seeking advanced theory and tasting skills.
You’ll learn: viticulture, winemaking, maturation, global regions in depth, and analytical tasting with the WSET SAT (Advanced).
Assessment: theory exam (multiple-choice + short written answers) and blind tasting of two wines.
Typical duration: 5–6 days (modular/classroom) or 10–12 online sessions.

Level 4 Diploma in Wines (pathway)

WSET in Spirits

Level 1 Award in Spirits

You’ll learn: core spirit categories and styles, production basics, and service.
Assessment: 45-minute multiple-choice exam.
Format: classroom or live online.

Level 2 Award in Spirits

You’ll learn: production methods (raw materials, distillation, maturation), major global categories, and tasting with SAT.
Assessment: 60-minute multiple-choice exam.
Format: classroom or live online.

 


WSET in Beer

Level 1 Award in Beer

You’ll learn: fundamentals of beer ingredients, styles and tasting.
Assessment: 45-minute multiple-choice exam.
Format: classroom or live online.

Level 2 Award in Beer

You’ll learn: brewing processes, global styles, quality management, and advanced tasting structure.
Assessment: 60-minute multiple-choice exam.
Format: classroom or live online.
Level 3 in development by WSET.


Delivery formats

  • Classroom: immersive tastings with curated flights; light refreshments included.
  • Live Online: interactive sessions on Zoom/Teams with guided tastings (tasting kits available in selected areas).
  • Corporate & Trade: custom cohorts, onboarding for hospitality, retail, importers; in English or Italian.

Exams & certification

  • Standardised worldwide: identical learning outcomes and exams across all APPs.
  • Proctored assessments: classroom exams or remote invigilation where available.
  • Certificates & pins: successful candidates receive an official WSET certificate and lapel pin for each level.

Entry requirements & language

  • No prerequisites for Level 1.
  • Recommended prior study for Level 2 (Level 1 or equivalent knowledge).
  • Required: Level 2 knowledge for Level 3; strong English reading comprehension for theory components.
  • Minimum legal drinking age applies for tastings in Italy; spitting is required during tastings in class.

Yes. Support is available in English and Italian.

Can I study online from outside Italy?
Yes—our live online formats welcome international learners. Exam options depend on location and WSET policies.
